Our blog was originally intended to solely focus on relationship advice and this may not seem to be related at a first glance, but in many ways I feel that our relationship with other people will grow as we learn to understand our relationship with our Father in Heaven and His Son. I love bearing testimony of Him, and with what has been happening in the past few weeks I feel it is appropriate to address the main reason why we can continue moving forward in full faith that everything will work out. Salty and I are doing wonderfully, but just as in all relationships there are times when I think “How can I, imperfect as I am, deserve someone as wonderful as she?” I’m sure she thinks the same; she’s told me.
The truth of everything is that we are all imperfect. We have talked about this before in previous posts, but this is always going to remain the case. I can not express enough how absolutely human we are, but as well I can not put enough emphasis on our ability to change. There is always room for improvement and there is always time to become better than we currently are. We may be imperfect right now, but we are a godly seed! We have every reason to believe that we may grow to become even as He is!
14. “…she [is] thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.”
15. “And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.”
God created man and woman, husband and wife, that they would raise children in a loving environment, where they could learn of their potential and grow up unto Him. God is seeking for a godly seed: children who are brought up and raised in the gospel, future heirs to His kingdom. We are sons and daughters of God, and if we prove faithful we can obtain all that our Father has. Time and time again, God has promised us that he will shower us with blessings from on High if we will only listen and follow His commandments.
Salty and I have noticed that when we are diligent in our gospel studies and strive to listen to the promptings of the Spirit, our lives are richly blessed and we feel a greater love for each other. When we shirk from our duties or neglect to read the scriptures, the Spirit starts to recede and our lives become hectic. With the Spirit we can balance our time between our relationship, school, work, and other activities. Without the Spirit, balance is near impossible and stress comes at us from all sides. God has blessed us immensely when we have followed His counsel, and we know that He will continue to do so as long as we pay attention to the whispering of the Spirit.
If you feel that you are imperfect, that is absolutely true! We all are, but not everyone wants to recognize it or has the humility it requires to change. Our Father wants to teach us and lead us along on the pathway of righteousness, but He can only do so when we say “Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth.”
In our attempt to build a relationship with others, we need to be actively trying to build our relationship with our Father and His Son. As we start to understand Them and Their love for all of us, we will learn to have a deeper love for each other and will strive to become better examples of Christ. Our goal should be to raise up godly seeds unto Him, that we may be found worthy at the last day. He truly loves us more than we can imagine. I feel this strongly, as He has proved it to me time and time again.
